Katie’s beauty secrets continue. As much as Cetaphil and Finacea are the bread and butter of my daily routine, you can’t have an almost 40 year old face, birthed two kids and have even skin tone. At least not this very white chick.

From what I’ve read, the thing that makes you look young is the appearance of smooth and even skin tone. (Oh and youth!) And let me tell you, my 4 and 7 year olds have skin so smooth you could bounce a dime on it. But one day, they will be glad of all my secrets because their skin is almost translucent and time will take its toll!

So foundation or tinted moisturizer and concealer is key. And you don’t have to spend a fortune. Our make-up artist source is Rebecca Perkins, Head Makeup Artist for Law & Order S.V.U. sent us to the drugstore once for the L’oreal Tru Match super-blendable makeup and it is good stuff. But I have always been partial to Giella custom blended makeup. She has a lovely tinted moisturizer that she mixes to match your skin tone and it’s as easy to use every day as lotion, plus it’s got SPF in it. She also has a very good concealer. What I love about the tinted moisturizer is that it takes two seconds and it changes everything. Curl the lashes and then slap on some mascara and I’m good to go. Maybe some eyeliner if I’m looking washed out. (When did that washed-out thing happen?)

Lately I’ve been trying out some of Rebecca Perkins’ faves. She’s hooked me up with Georgio Armani Face Fabric. Great stuff and it comes in all shades of the skin rainbow. She also turned me onto Cle de Peau. Yeah, it’s expensive as all hell, but you can make it last. It goes on creamy and dries smooth and powdery. Love it. Doesn’t settle into those annoying fine lines that have popped up below my eyes. Only drawback is that it comes in four colors and they’re all at the light end of the spectrum. Why do companies do this! Helloo?

Oh and then powder. Again I go back to Giella for my powder. She has an application that has the powder in the brush wand and you can add a white or gold shimmer that reflects light and provides that illusion of smooth, flawless skin. Ah perfection.

What’s great about my routine is that it literally takes five minutes. And for an Organic Freedom, this is key. And for those practical types — Classics and Funs — it will get you out the door in a jiffy. The only ones who might not go for it are those ladies out there who are REALLY into make up, and for all you gals like that out there, we salute you!
