Doggy duvets — and cats too

Daily Grommet’s Selection of Molly Mutt Duvet’sSo yesterday’s tip was really for Classics — basic and traditional dog beds. Today’s tip that we found on Daily Grommet will appeal more to the Organics and Funs out there. These duvets by Molly Mutt are funkier and hipper. But, a few Classics might just be attracted to the much cheaper price point.

Besides helping Fido or Fifi’s bed look charming in your abode, the Molly Mutt raison d’être is to help people reuse old or worn textiles. Now, obviously you can donate clothes to goodwill but what about your kids long since abandoned stuffed animals? And let’s face it, you either know of someone, or you ARE that person, who has secretly thrown out clothes in the trash just to be rid of them. It’s a neat concept:

Molly Mutt diy dog bed kits are an exciting new approach to keeping textiles out of our landfills. Cover your existing dog bed with the molly mutt dog duvet, or – here’s the cool part – fill it with the old clothes and bedding you’ve got laying around your house. Ready to toss those jams & one-eyed care bears from the mid-nineties? Throw those in your new cover! Your dog gets a new bed, and you get a fun, easy way to recycle your old things – not to mention some extra space in your closet. (Need more ideas for duvet fillers? click here!)

Each duvet comes with a mesh bag to contain all of the textile recyclables and then you simply place the duvet over it. It’s a rather neat idea. And at $20-45, knowing my husband, I have a feeling this will end up being Hattie’s new official bedding. And yes, this is how cute Hattie was as a puppy, if not cuter.
