This gem is from “Glam New Closet” In Style, January 2009. “[Find a hanger you love,] toss the rest, and voilà: a DIY designer boutique.” I don’t know about a boutique but it’ll make your closet look amazing. But, as easy as it sounds, there could be some snags for certain types when implementing this tip.

I bought green narrow felt hangers from Bed Bath & Beyond 3+ years ago. My closet looks amazing, my clothes no longer fall off the hanger and they’re super slim so I can maximize what I have in my closet. Problem for me is that I got them in this shade of soft green, which is not only not ubiquitous, I can’t find it.

So, when I wanted to get add’l hangers and replace lost/broken ones, I had to search forever to find matching ones. I found a close match at Joy Mangano’s Huggable Hangers. But, they’re not exact and that soooo irritates the detail oriented Classic like myself (ditto for Funs). It’s the kind of detail that my nuclear family (mom, dad, sister, brother – bunch of Organics and Smarts) would scratch their head and wonder how I could obsess over such a small detail. But as a practical Classic, I’m not going to replace my entire hanger collection just to have them match perfectly.

SO, Classics and Funs, buy colors that will always be out there, black, tan, white. Or you’ll live to regret it when trying to buy replacements. Organics you can have more leeway because if the green is slightly off, you’ll be able to gloss over it in a way I can’t. This is most likely true for Smarts as well. Although, I would say that Smart Structures out there might be annoyed by it IF your closet is an important part of your life.

Best for all
