Today’s tip is all about looking at your home in a new light—literally. With these DIY über modern lanterns, the future is starting to look a lot brighter and prettier or at least maybe your living room will.

The first and by far the simplest to make is this super fun Coffee Filter Lantern that was featured on the blog Saucy Glossie click on it forstep by step directions. All you need for this frilly lamp is a white paper lanternthis one is a whopping $1.25 an electric lightbulb cord (try Ikea), a glue gun (doesn’t every Classic own one?), and of course traditional coffee filters (like the ones that go in old school Mr. Coffee coffee makers). From there all that is needed is scrunching and gluing and you’re good to go. We’re thinking this one is best for Organics and Funs as it might be too funky for some Classics and Smarts. But, we’d say if you’re a Fun or an Organic Freedom, if you want this project to be at the top of your mental to-do list, plan a dinner party to show it off. There’s nothing like a deadline to get the creative juices flowing.

A little more detailed and dainty is this lovely doliy lamp that put will put a feminine touch on any room. Not only is this a beautiful piece for your home but it can be made into a fun family activity because it is so simple to do courtesy of MoreDesignPlease.com — click on it forstep by step directions. You’ll need a balloon, wall paper glue, an electric lightbulb cord (again try Ikea) and of course a number of doilies. If you want your lamp as pictured you could use a variety of different types of doilies but Classics would probably like it more if it was all the same doily. Repeat patterns please Classics more than lots of different complimenting patterns.
