Follow an Introverted Organic Freedom as she tries to lose weight, clean house and do everything else she's supposed to do as a busy mom and internet entrepreneur — all before her 40th birthday.

Hopefully, she will prove that if an Organic Freedom can get their body and house in shape, ANYONE can.

Still Not Sold

On the dark hair. And still haven't tried to strip it with the dish detergent. Like a true Organic Freedom, I, um, well I keep forgetting to bring the soap upstairs. BUT I did bring up the article from Family Circle about "Make Over Your Middle"with a "No-Bloat Diet" and "A Belly-Flattening Menu"

So here goes. A list for you list makers...

  1. Avocado
  2. Whole Grains
  3. Greek Yogurt
  4. Dried Plums
  5. Melon
  6. Fennel

Okay I LOVE avocado. And I'm not worried about fat in my diet. In fact, in the next ten years, probably next five years they are going to find out that a high-fat diet makes you look younger. Cuz let me tell you, those low carb, low fat diets are wreaking havoc on 40 year old actresses...

Whole grains is pretty easy. I LOVE Vermont & Co's Spelt breat and all their other whole grain offerings. Plus they're at my local grocery store so that's good. Unfortunately I've been on a white bread phase, but I can cycle it out.

Greek Yogurt? Oh my GOD this just gets better. The consistency of this stuff is like pudding. A little honey and it's sweet as can be.

Dried plums. Oh I popped these like candies after my two children were born. Helps with congestion digestion issues that accompany Percocet use. The organic kind I get at our local grocer are wonderful.

Melon. I always thought this was a useless fruit. Yummy, but empty calories. Turns out eating these water-packed, low-acid fruites and vegetables like melons, cucumbers and lettuces are all high in water and low in acid, and TRICK your body into letting go of stored fluid. Rockin.

Fennel. I don't know how I feel about fennel, but since I can't stand peppermint tea (overused it when I was pregnant and nauseous, and so can't really stand the smell) and I've never liked ginger, I might as well try it. It supposedly sooths the smooth muscles in the bowel and minimizes swelling. Also, it has a lot of potassium and a phytonutrient called anethole which may reduce inflammation. SO I will try it. And yes it will take me a couple of days.
