Real World Classics

Today, we have solutions developed by real life Classics. In fact, both of today’s images are from one of my favorite Classics. She sent this image to me eons ago when she’d just moved into a new home and came up with a genius front hall solution for her family’s myriad coats and other outdoor accoutrements. But, she also recently had a great solution for lack of medicine cabinet space — this one could actually work for almost all.

Two words makes this a giveaway as a Classic’s solution. Boat totes. Not that Classics exclusively purchase these bags — but they’re  a quintessential, traditional bag even if you don’t happen to be a boater. They’re sturdy, not to pricey, crisp and preppy. All things that appeal to most Classics. I actually use boat totes to hold my dry cleaning and hand wash. The former is brilliant because it doubles as a carrier for my dry cleaning. In this solution, the boat totes are a different shade for each family member and holds their stuff.

This Classic coat solution could also work for Organics and Smarts as having coats out in the open mean you’re less likely to forget about coats and their accoutrements. But, Organic Freedoms and Smart Freedoms might have a tougher time keeping the individualized boat totes organized if the rest of the family wasn’t diligent about keeping it up — Oh say if one person had more stuff than the next person so it spilled over into theirs or one person used it to take stuff to the dry cleaner, left it in the car and then started putting their mittens in their neighbor’s. I could go on but you get the picture.

Today’s other real world Classic solution is using a clear plastic over the door shoe bag for extra medicine cabinet items. In fact, it’s kind of great for kids’ bathrooms in general if they’re at an age when you want them to be more independent and get their toothbrush and toothpaste on their own without having to have it all out on the counter within their reach. I hate having a gazillion things out on the counter so this is a perfect contained solution. And it also could work for Organic Structures and Smart Structures who are relatively diligent about putting things back in their homes. The clear plastic visual nature of the solution would be great for these types.
