Okay, okay so telephones technically never went away and they are now essentially surgically attached to our hips. And it seems that there isn’t a person alive who doesn’t have a cell phone these days. But, more and more people don’t have real telephones. We think it’s time to reconsider. Here’s why.

They’re essential in a blackout or an emergency. Although if you have a cable phone then frankly there’s not much point. But, if you’re a couple living together, it’s kind of nice to have a phone where someone can call your home and not just a specific person’s cell phone.

Now, the second reason to have them comeback is that there’s something so reassuring about talking on an actual receiver. I feel like I used to have long conversations on the phone that I don’t have today. Maybe it’s because we’re never both in a spot with guaranteed coverage or an ability to talk. Or maybe I just tend to email (new school form of old school letter writing that almost died with the telephone but is now back!) I love this modern answer to my problem from ThinkGeek. It’s a bluetooth device in the shape of an old school telephone receiver. Cool, right? I know. I might actually get excited about phone calls again if they came through this device.
