How’s that for a pun-ny title? Wait are those crickets I hear?? Today’s tip from Real Simple is to use a toothbrush as a corn cleaner. Admittedly, the tip sounds absurd on the surface.

Use a clean toothbrush to remove stray threads of silk from freshly shucked ears of corn. The bristles will lift them away quickly and efficiently.

And at first I too thought this was one LAME-O idea but I don’t think it is. I realized it was rather a brilliant solution to avoiding that horrific moment when you must figure out how to gracefully remove the silk hairs from your teeth without offending your dinner guests. I figure a detail oriented Classic Freedom (SFJ) perfectionist came up with it. Sure, a Classic Structure (STJ) could have done so as well but I doubt it. They just don’t care what others think about them as much as Classic Freedoms do ergo, the corn silk in between your tooth just isn’t that bad.

And I know it’s not for Organics (NF) because my Organic Structure mom is a virtual corn on the cob addict who likes her favorite foods just so and never in all of her years of seeking corn perfectionism has she come up with any solution other than using her bare hands to remove all traces of corn silk hairs. She’s bound to reply to today’s post with something to the effect of “Try using your hands.”

But your hands can’t get everything. The tops and bottoms are always the hardest and it takes forever. I think the toothbrush would make a good quality control tool for a second workover before you pop them in the boiling water. Man, I can’t WAIT for summer!
